Mike Shaver - President

Mike has been active in the oil and gas industry in the basin since 1985. From 1985 to 1992 Mike performed duties for Eastern American Energy in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. During this time Mike also attended college studying Petroleum Engineering. Mike broadened his practical knowledge of the Appalachian basin through his employment with other independent producers.

In 1994 Mike helped his father, Steve, found Mountain V and served as the Vice-President until 2006.

Mike continues to lead the growth and success of Mountain V through a balance of strategic sales, acquisitions, and drilling.

Greg Hicks - Vice-President (Operations)

Greg has over 19 years experience in the oil and gas industry.  He attended Glenville State College and majored in Petroleum Engineering Technology.  He became employed by Alamco, Inc. as a well tender in the early 1990's and carried several titles in his six years there, including Gas Measurement Specialist and Field Manager.  Greg was employed by R.L. Laughlin & Co. as General Manager for several years before being hired in 2004 by Mountain V as Construction Supervisor.  He was promoted to Drilling Foreman in 2005 and carried that title until his promotion to Vice-President of operations in 2006. 

Throughout his career with Mountain V and previous employers he has gradually gained knowledge and experience that has made him an invaluable part of Mountain V.

Matt Matuska - Controller

Matt is a 1999 graduate of West Virginia University with a B.S. in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering and a 2003 graduate with a degree in Business Administration, majoring in accounting and management information systems.  He has been employed with Mountain V Oil and Gas, Inc, since 2004 and  has worked in all facets of the company, including positions as a well tender, drilling and completion engineer, landman, revenue and production analyst. As the controller for Mountain V, he tracks and records monthly well production and expenses and supervises and manages the company’s accounting and revenue and expense distribution system.

Richard Moody - Drilling and Completions Supervisor

Mr. Moody is a life-long veteran of the Appalachian oil and natural gas industry.  He has a broad and far ranging understanding of oil and gas operations. He joined Mountain V Oil and Gas in 2007 after completing a thirty-six year career with Halliburton Services, where he served as a field completion supervisor providing cementing and fracturing services throughout the Appalachian Basin to numerous oil and gas companies.  He is the Drilling and Completion Supervisor for Mountain V and he  designs, engineers and directly supervises the drilling, logging, cementing and completion procedures for Mountain V’s wells, focusing on controlling drilling and completion costs and maximizing well completions for optimum well stimulation and natural gas production.
